Classification Standards

Classification Standards

Pressure Classes: Pressure classes determine the capacity of pipes to withstand applied pressure. According to ISO standards, pressure classes (PN) are expressed in bar units. Nominal pressure classes include PN 1, 4, 6, 10, 12, 16, 25, and 32. For example, the PN 1 pressure class is suitable for non-pressure (gravity-fed) pipes.

According to the AWWA C950 standard, GRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyester) pipes are classified as follows:

  • 50 psi

  • 100 psi

  • 150 psi

  • 200 psi

  • 250 psi

SUPERLIT manufactures GRP pipes in various pressure classes in compliance with these standards.

The GRP Pipe Pressure Classes are shown in the table below.

Stiffness Classes: Stiffness determines the mechanical strength and structural integrity of the pipe. SUPERLIT manufactures GRP pipes according to the following stiffness classes:

  • SN 2500

  • SN 5000

  • SN 10000

In addition to these classes, production is also possible at intermediate values or at stiffness levels higher than SN 10000.
