SUPERLIT has signed a contract for the supply, installation and engineering of large diameter pipes for the cooling system of Akkuyu Power Plant, Turkey's first nuclear power plant.
Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) will be constructed in the Akkuyu area of Yanışlı neighbourhood in Gülnar district of Mersin province and will be Turkey's first nuclear power plant upon completion. Akkuyu NPP will consist of 4 units, each with an installed capacity of 1200 MWe.
SUPERLIT Boru San. A.Ş. will be responsible for the production and laying of GRP sea discharge line pipes to be used within the scope of Marine Hydrotechnical Structures Construction of Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant. The discharge lines consist of approximately 10.5 km of GRP pipes, of which approximately 8 km are DN 4000, DN 3000 and DN 2000. With the discharge system consisting of 10 lines starting parallel to each other and side by side at -25 level, the water used in the cooling process of the power plant is discharged into the sea.
SUPERLIT is the only pipe manufacturer in Turkey capable of producing glassfiber reinforced polyester (GRP) pipes using three different technologies: 'Continuous Filament Winding', 'Centrifugal Casting', and 'Helical Filament Winding'.
