Superlit Supplies 3.5 Kilometres of GRP Pipes for the Mošnov BMW Project in the Czech Republic

Aug 10, 2026

Superlit has successfully manufactured and supplied glass fibre reinforced polyester (GRP) pipes and fittings for the wastewater infrastructure of the Mošnov BMW Project in the Ostrava region of the Czech Republic.

The project involved GRP pipes in diameters ranging from DN600 to DN2000, manufactured using different production technologies. The total length of the pipes produced and delivered for the wastewater network reached 3.5 kilometres. Superlit also manufactured the GRP fittings required along the pipeline in accordance with the specific requirements of the project.

Completed for a construction site operating under challenging winter conditions, the comprehensive supply operation once again demonstrated Superlit’s ability to develop engineering solutions suited to different climates and site conditions.

A Wide Diameter Range from DN600 to DN2000

The wastewater infrastructure of the Mošnov BMW Project was designed as a comprehensive system incorporating pipes with different diameters and production requirements.

As part of the project:

All pipes and fittings were manufactured by Superlit and delivered to the project site in the Czech Republic.

The use of two different production technologies for the various diameter groups enabled the pipeline system to be configured according to the relevant project criteria and site requirements. This approach provided an integrated GRP pipe solution covering everything from medium-diameter pipes to large-diameter wastewater pipelines.

Two Production Technologies Combined in One Project

For the Mošnov BMW Project, Superlit brought together its Centrifugal Casting and Filament Winding manufacturing capabilities within a single infrastructure system.

In the Centrifugal Casting process, the materials forming the pipe structure—including glass fibre, polyester resin and silica sand—are placed in controlled layers inside a rotating mould. This production method allows the layers within the pipe wall to be configured according to the specific requirements of each project.

With Filament Winding technology, glass fibre reinforcements are combined with a resin system and formed into the pipe structure according to a predetermined winding pattern. This method offers significant advantages, particularly in the production of large-diameter GRP pipes and pipe systems designed to meet different engineering requirements.

The use of Centrifugal Casting technology for DN600–DN1400 pipes and Filament Winding technology for DN1500–DN2000 large-diameter pipes reflects Superlit’s project-specific approach to manufacturing.

An Integrated Supply Solution for Wastewater Infrastructure

Superlit’s role in the project was not limited to manufacturing standard pipes. The GRP fittings required to maintain the continuity of the wastewater network and provide the connections needed for site installation were also included in the production scope.

Managing the pipes and fittings as part of the same system was important for coordinating production, logistics and on-site installation. The GRP pipes and connection components forming the 3.5-kilometre pipeline were completed in accordance with the defined production and delivery schedule and transported to the project site.

This comprehensive supply operation required the coordinated production of pipes in multiple diameters and project-specific components. By successfully managing the process from manufacturing through to delivery, Superlit contributed to the development of the project’s wastewater infrastructure.

Planned Production and Delivery Under Challenging Winter Conditions

In infrastructure projects, the technical properties of the products are only one part of successful project delivery. Production and logistics must also be managed in close coordination with the construction programme.

This becomes particularly important on Central European construction sites operating during winter, where low temperatures, precipitation and changing ground conditions can create additional challenges for logistics and installation planning.

The production and delivery of pipes and fittings for the Mošnov BMW Project were managed with the site conditions and project schedule in mind. Superlit completed the required products across a wide diameter range, together with the necessary fittings, within the planned programme and supported construction activities continuing under winter conditions.

Contributing to the Infrastructure of a Strategic European Logistics Centre

The Mošnov BMW Project represents an important infrastructure development associated with the major logistics centre being established within the Ostrava Airport Multimodal Park.

According to information published by the City of Ostrava, the new centre in Mošnov will serve BMW Group’s logistics network in Central Europe. With access to road, rail and air transport, the area is positioned as one of Europe’s significant industrial and logistics locations.

The GRP pipes supplied by Superlit form part of the wastewater infrastructure designed to support the facility’s long-term operation. Through this contribution, Superlit is participating in the project not only as a pipe supplier but also as an international solutions provider delivering engineering-driven infrastructure systems for major industrial investments across Europe.

A Long-Term Infrastructure Approach with GRP Pipes

Pipes used in wastewater networks must be suitable for the surrounding environmental conditions, the characteristics of the transported fluid and long-term operational requirements.

GRP pipe systems are widely used in wastewater infrastructure due to their corrosion resistance, smooth internal surface, relatively lightweight structure and ability to be manufactured in a broad range of diameters.

Their corrosion-resistant structure helps GRP pipes maintain reliability throughout their service life, while their smooth internal surface contributes to sustained hydraulic performance. Their relatively low weight compared with traditional materials such as steel and concrete can also provide operational advantages during transportation, handling and installation.

These properties make GRP pipes a strong long-term infrastructure solution, particularly for large-diameter sewerage and wastewater projects.

Expanding Superlit’s Project Experience Across Europe

The supply of 3.5 kilometres of GRP pipes and fittings for the Mošnov BMW Project adds another significant reference to Superlit’s project experience in the European infrastructure market.

The company’s ability to use different production technologies within the same project, manufacture products across a wide diameter range and deliver project-specific fittings as part of an integrated system demonstrates its engineering and manufacturing capabilities in international projects.

Superlit continues to provide GRP pipe systems for wastewater, sewerage, drinking water, irrigation and various industrial applications through a manufacturing approach aligned with international standards.

By combining durability, sustainability and engineering expertise, the company contributes to infrastructure investments across Europe and other regions worldwide.

The Mošnov BMW Project is a recent example of this approach: a comprehensive GRP pipe solution extending from a construction site operating under winter conditions to a reliable wastewater system designed to provide long-term service.
